Summer Dinner series and more at KHMR

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is diving right into the summer season with some great events planned and the kick off of their summer dinner concert series.

The Golden Star had the privilege of attending the first of the five dinner events and was fully impressed with what Chef Colin Stralak had cooked up at the Eagle’s Eye (EE)restaurant. Only one word can desribe the five-course taster menu: Wow.

Each dish, paired with a different beverage, was beautifully plated and tasted even better than it looked. The light summer themed menu included delectable oysters to start, a lightly seared tuna steak with salmon caviar, a tasty halibut with citrus beurre blanc, a hearty, yet perfectly portioned, AAA tenderloin steak and finished with a to-die-for dessert that was comprised of a brownie topped with raspberry sorbet in a white chocolate soup.

Dinner included EE signature cocktails and a delicious ice wine cocktail to finish the desssert.

The meal was accented with live music from local talent, Brokendown Suitcase.

On July 11, KHMR will feature the second Summer Dinner Concert Series with an El Fresco Beer Makers Dinner with OK Springs. Price is $79.95 (taxes are included) and includes lift, 5 course meal and live entertainment

Along with the dinner series events, KHMR has a fully packed schedule for the summer. Some of the upcoming events include the Saturday Rambler’s Hikes which began last weekend. The hikes allow people to learn from KHMR’s local guides about the intriguing area and explore topics ranging from mountain safety to creating beautiful mountain photography.

On June 27, the first of the Rambler’s Hikes covered the topic of Mountain Safety and Weather. Guided by the KHMR Mountain Safety Crew, guests learned how the crew keeps the mountain safe on a daily basis and received tips on how to conquer the mountains safely on their own adventures.

The hikes will run every Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., starting in the KHMR plaza and are great for the whole family. Purchase your Rambler’s Hike ticket at Guest Services. The hikes are a $15 upgrade to the Adventure Pass, $10 for Adventure Passport holders, and $5 for children accompanied with a parent.

Coming soon, KHMR will feature the ABA / BC Cup. The Western Showdown Downhill Mountain Bike Race will be held on July 11 and 12 with timed runs and racing on the 12.

For more information on these or any other of the KHMR summer events, keep an eye on The Golden Star or check out the resort’s website at www.kickinghorseresort.com.
