The 2010 Ford Taurus is getting great reviews nationally and one local Taurus expert has nothing but good things to say about the newest Taurus model.
Jackie Spain is a medical technologist and owner operator of Golden Solutions a company that specializes in health and safety in transportation of dangerous goods. Spain is also a long time driver and owner of the Ford Taurus.
“In my world, I average around 60,000 kilometres per year on the highway. I am constantly driving huge distances in all conditions. I’ve owned four Ford Tauruses and have driven them since the early 90s,” she says.
Some years ago, Spain says she started looking, with the help of the Lemon-aide book, for reliable vehicles and decided on the Taurus.
“I bought a two-year-old vehicle at the time and I just loved it. That Taurus has just been taken off the road and it was pushing 400,000 kilometres. I’m sure it would just keep on going too,” she says.
After that, Spain says she went and found another Taurus and just kept going from there.
“Each time one gets tired, I flip it. Right now I am driving a 2006 Taurus.”
Dan Maisonneuve, Managing Partner at Kicking Horse Ford, asked Spain to take the 2010 Taurus for a for a few days and put it through its paces.
“I’d heard about the 2010 and wanted to try and help promote the car,” said Spain, adding, “I have to say that this dealership has been excellent for me over the years.
I bought my 2006 Taurus at Kicking Horse Ford and I highly recommend their service.”
The 2010 Taurus
Inside:
“Compared to the other models, this car has been completely redone,” says Spain, adding, “The driver and passenger seats are excellent; seats are important and these are extremely comfortable.”
Spain says that the cabin and cockpit are easy to see and access.
“And it is so quiet, to the point that it has a start and running audio signal. If you were hard of hearing, you’d need it!”
With well thought out multi-media options available with the 2010, Spain says for anyone using their car as an office, this car absolutely meets those needs.
As for comfort and leg room, Spain says the 2010 Taurus is exceptional.
“I had some teenage girls riding with me and they said they were impressed by the amount of leg room. That is significant to them,” she says, adding, “The girl that sat in the back said, “These are the kinds of seats you could sit in at home and watch T.V.” Ford has really made use of the space.”
Spain says she was also impressed with the trunk space of the 2010 Taurus.
“The trunk is enormous,” she says showing off the feature, “I’ve got two suitcases and more in there and there is still a lot of room.”
Engineering and Drivability:
“The 2010 Taurus has good placement of the steering wheel and handles exceptionally well on the highway,” says Spain, adding, “This is the best I’ve handled for stability in bad road conditions.”
Spain says the 2010 Taurus is very light on turns and has a very tight turning radius for its size.
“The engineering is extremely well done. For me, I have to have a car that reacts quickly. What would sell me is the cab design and the highway handling and safety.”
Mileage:
Spain says in her experience, the Ford Taurus is classically good on gas and this model is very similar.
“This car is not a gas-guzzler. One can expect 600-700 kilometres on one tank.”
Spain says that for residents of this area this car handles fantastically.
“This car has all season tires on it still and it handled very well. I live rurally and there are no problems getting in and out.”
Spain says that the 2010 is a good vehicle for the country we live in and one that you’d be proud to take to the city.
“I would absolutely have the 2010 on the top of my list. It combines class with sport and has all of the things I think people would want in a vehicle.”
