A local business is getting a long awaited facelift.

On September 2, construction began at Jepson Petroleum to upgrade the site and later this week, the staff hope to be fully up and running.

Ladine Salsbury, Operations Manager at Jepson, said that Petro Canada is financing the construction.

“Every site gets upgraded and for the last two years, we’ve been in scope to be upgraded.”

Salsbury explained that part of the facelift included taking out the underground fuel tanks which were too small and moving to above ground tanks.

“We will also have brand new pumps and and island,” she said, adding, “They are also fixing up the office with new siding and new floors.”

Salsbury said that along with the new pumps and fuel tanks, there will be another card reader added to the site.

She added that the last two months have posed challenges for the business.

“The challenge has been that we have no gas right now so our customers have been going over to the Reddi Mart,” she said, “But our customers have been very patient through all of this.”

Wednesday, November 4, is the tentative opening date with hopes to be fully up and running by the end of the week.

“This is so nice to see,” said Salsbury, adding, “We have waited a long time, four years, so this upgrade is great.”

The Jepson site will also feature satellite pumps, a new system at the site that enables the trucks to fuel up from each side by activating the pumps at the same time.”

With the two card readers, three channels and overall better accessibility, Salsbury said that the long deserving and much needed upgrade will make things more efficient for Jepson’s customers.

“Everything (on the site) was pretty outdated and we are excited that we can actually run through the weekend now with the above ground tanks that hold 53,000 litres. These tanks double the site’s capacity.”

Salsbury reminds customers that Jepson is still taking used oil.

“We just ask that customers please drop it off during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as we are trying to remain environmentally friendly while still accepting the oil.”
