If you’re in the mood to be nostalgic or if you just really love cars, stop by Kicking Horse Ford this week and check out their newest additions to their stock.

Over the last few weeks, the Kicking Horse Ford team has brought the 60s back by bringing in some timeless classics for people to see, touch and even buy.

Dan Maisonneuve, owner and operator at Kicking Horse Ford, said that he and partner Ric Johnson worked together to bring in the classic cars. Johnson has been a car collector for 35 years and some of the cars have even come from his collection. The rest have come from dealer auctions in the U.S.

When queried as to why he wanted to feature these classic beauties, Maisonneuve said, “It’s a combination of a hobby that we can turn into business. Also we get to look at and drive all of these great cars,” he said grinning.

Maisonneuve said that for buyers, purchasing one of these classics from a trusted dealership is a great way to know they are getting a good product.

“There is no risk here as we have had all of the cars professionally inspected, bought and maintained. We also know the history of each car which is something you have to be wary of when buying a classic car.”

He explained that with classic cars, the buyer is actually making an investment as well as fulfilling the dream of owning a car like a ‘65 Camaro, for instance.

“If purchased properly, these cars continue to appreciate. It’s an investment you can use and still make a dollar out of later.”

Maisonneuve said he and his staff have really been enjoying having the cars on site as it brings in many passers by.

“It generates a lot of traffic for the dealership from locals and tourists alike,” said Maisonneuve, adding that it definitely can translate into higher sales.

He said that this initiative was never expected to bring in big volume.

“This really is a niche market, but that being said, we have sold 25 of these classics in the last year.”

Such a large number of sales is just an added bonus for Maisonneuve who said, “There’s nothing more fun than handing the keys over to somebody’s dream car.”

Maisonneuve said that the favourites have been the tried and true Mustangs and Camaros from the mid ‘60s.

“It’s the age old saying, what sells new-sells used and these cars are proof of that.”

Maisonneuve continued, “The ‘69 Camaro lasted two days and the ‘65 Mustang only lasted two hours. We are really excited because later this afternoon we have a ‘67 Camaro showing up and we are all very excited to see it.”

Maisonneuve said that he will continue to bring in the classics, though it will continue to be a seasonal event.
