Second attempt at Hockeyville for Revelstoke

McLaughlin has spoken to the organizer’s of Terrace, B.C.’s winning 2009 bid for advice.
He said they raised about $20,000 to promote the town and had volunteers go to other communities to help drum up votes.
To enter the contest a community must submit a 500 word letter and up to three photographs. McLaughlin said Berarducci will be writing the letter, as he is the town’s hockey historian.
This isn’t the first time someone has attempted to make Revelstoke Hockeyville. In 2008, Ken Stephanishin started a bid, but he entered too late to be considered.
Even if Revelstoke doesn’t win, McLaughlin believes the effort will be worth it.
“If we get as far as when Revelstoke is being mentioned on TV, just that alone, the whole country is hearing the name Revelstoke, then we’ve won,” he said.
