Half a billion or two?

MLA Norm Macdonald dropped by the Times Review office last week for a chat, and amongst other things told us that he too had received assurances that the Revelstoke ambulance station was moving forward, albeit a few months behind schedule.
One story the Times Review followed during the election was B.C.’s overall financial picture. Some economists, and the opposition, have expressed their view that the $495 million deficit forecast prior to the election was unrealistic, and would likely amount to much more than that.
Cuts may be in the forecast and anticipated by some, but the thought that the much needed ambulance station was actually on the chopping block was so incredible that it was almost unbelievable. If the much-needed station was on the block, it could be argued that almost anything could go. After all, we don’t even have an ambulance station.
It was good to see a unified response from the municipality and MLA on the ambulance issue.
It seems questionable if it will be the last time it will be necessary in the near future.
