A man brandishing a sawed-off shotgun robbed the Shell service station in Revelstoke on Sunday evening just after 9 p.m., making off with several hundred dollars.
According to witnesses, the man then fled on foot between the Shell station and the Super 8 Motel.
Following the robbery, Revelstoke RCMP could be seen scouring the area around the service station, which is located next to Tim Hortons at the Trans-Canada Highway. Members could be seen sweeping the adjacent bushes with a spotlight, while others interviewed employees from the store and witnesses.
RCMP say a police dog was brought in from Vernon, and that forensic experts based in Revelstoke are investigating.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s and is between 172–177 cm tall (5’8”–5’10”). He was wearing a brown hoodie, black pants and had a bandana over his face.
