Fire Rescue Services extinguishes minor fire

Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services responded to a fire in a semi-trailer unit which was parked in front of the Revelstoke McDonald's on Mutas Road this morning.

Fire Chief Rob Girard said the department received the 911 call just before 5 a.m. after the driver of the vehicle was unable to put the fire out using his own extinguisher.

Fire crews managed to get the fire extinguished quickly, and contained it to the brake area of the truck.

"Fortunately the fire didn’t spread into the trailer compartment, which evidently contained grocery product," said Chief Girard.

The fire was out and overhauled in 10 minutes. There were no injuries.
