Revelstoke RCMP say a mystery 9-1-1 call from an unknown person inside a Revelstoke residence led police to the discovery of a small marijuana grow-op in the same residence Saturday.

Police went to the house on the 700 block of Edward Street after someone at the address placed an emergency call and then hung up without saying anything.

"We don't know who made that call," said  Cpl. Rod Wiebe of Revelstoke RCMP, adding that they don't think it was the owner of the house.

Officers responded to the call but no one answered the door so they entered to "ensure the safety of anyone inside," police said.

"The house was empty at the time and we went in through an unsecured door," said Wiebe.

He would not say how many marijuana plants were found but did say that more than 40 grams of dried marijuana was seized.

A 41-year-old woman, who was a resident at the home, was arrested and is facing allegations of possessing a controlled substance. Formal charges await approval of Crown counsel.

Wiebe said he did not know if the woman charged was the owner of the home or just a tenant.
