November 11 marks Remembrance Day and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #46 will host the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony.
The day commemorates the sacrifices of armed forces members and civilians in times of war.
It is observed at 11 a.m. Nov. 11, which is the date of the end of the First World War.
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, ending the World War One and the 70th anniversary of the start of the World War Two.
In Revelstoke, the day will begin at 10:45 a.m. with a parade that begins on Mackenzie Avenue between First and Second streets.
The Revelstoke Highland Pipe Band will lead the parade along First Street to the Cenotaph at First Street and Garden Avenue, across from the legion hall.
Also taking part in the parade is the RCMP, Royal Canadian Legion members, Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary members, #2458 Rocky Mountain Cadet Corp, Boy Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Girl Guides/Sparks, fraternal organizations, and others.
When the parade arrives at the Cenotaph, a rendition of O Canada will be sung. This will be followed by a prayer led by chaplain Marlene McQuarrie.
At 11:00 a.m. a moment of silence will be held to remember those who sacrificed their lives for Canada.
After the silence, the gathering will be addressed by mayor David Raven and Sue Driediger.
This will be followed by the laying of wreaths at the cenotaph.
The ceremony will conclude with the singing of God Save the Queen.
