The U17 Nelson Selects dominated the soccer field winning 3 - 0 against Cranbrook in an afternoon match, July 3.

"We're working the kinks out," said Coach Keith Williams. "The guys played really well today."

The first goal came midway through the first half, by Yuki Miwa. Then Shaun O'Connor followed that up with another goal.

Early in the second half Dylan Zaitsoff added the third goal to the Selects' tally with a bump off his head that flew straight into the net.

Coach Williams said the team was really focused on its offense and played hard all the way through.

With a tie in their first game, on July 2, the team has a good chance at making it to the semi-finals.

But first they must face the undefeated Kamloops team on July 4. If they beat Kamloops they'll be first place in their pool and have a shot at a gold or silver medal.

Otherwise they'll play for bronze or in a consolation match, depending on how other teams in their pool place.
