Late pressure in the second half finally paid off for Kamloops U17 as they were finally able to break a scoreless game against the Nelson U17 Selects in B.C. Provincial B Cup championship action on July 2 at Lakeside Field in Nelson.
"That goal was coming for a quite a while," said coach Keith Williams
following the 1-nil loss.
Kamloops certainly had more chances later in the game as they missed two complete breakaways with less than 15 minutes left in the game.
However, the Nelson side certainly wasn't outplayed during the game.
"I thought the boys played really well," said Williams, who said he was hoping to get Byron Rokeby-Thomas back in the lineup for the team's next game. "I was really impressed by how our defence played, despite the late pressure they faced."
