Nerves about playing in front a home crowd for provincials seem to come into play for the Nelson Selects U14 side.

Luckily for the local team, however, it took only minutes for the team shake off the nerves and put away a pesky Terrace team in opening round action at the B.C. Provincial B Cup Championships being held this week in Nelson.

"To be honest, there were a lot of nerves at the beginning of the game, but once we scored our first goal things fell into place," said head coach Mike Patton.

Nelson's first goal basically opened up the flood gates and Nelson quickly powered out to a 4-nil lead.

"It was a pleasure to watch," said Patton. "We dominated the middle. There isn't for me to on the sideline during a game like that. We pretty much dominated everywhere."

The game ended up 6-nil for the Nelson side. Scoring for the local team was Adam Plant with a pair, followed by Blake Nicol, Mitch Podadynetz, Luis Loeschnik and Cormac Southan.
