Generosity thanked
Editor:
What a treat for Halloween!!!! On Oct. 31, the Nelson Fire Department came to my home and built a ramp so that I may be able to come and go without the pain of using the stairs.
You see I have Muscular Dystrophy which is the name for a group of neuro-muscular disorders that are characterized by progressive weakness and wasting of the voluntary muscles that control body movement.
Since 1954, firefighters across Canada have been raising money for MD, and our very own NFD has been doing this for many years, you may recall seeing them doing boot drives, or even camping on top of a building in the winter to raise money.
With generous donations from Maglio Building Supplies and Home Hardware and money from the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. the NFD donated their time and skill on the weekend and built me a ramp giving me a much safer way in and out of my home.
Words alone can not express how thankful I am to all those involved, a special thank you to Bob, Gord, Martin and the other “guys” from the NFD, also to Dominic at Maglio Building and Randy & Bob from Home Hardware.
Thank You So Much
Susan Vital
