It’s about time.
For a region with a reputation of being environmentally conscious, not having a regional transit system is a huge slap in the face to those who have gone to great lengths to try to get more vehicles off the road.
But BC Transit’s stop in the West Kootenay seems to have brought promise to area stakeholders.
The officials have gone back to the West Coast headquarter to plan out what will be the next stop for creating a regional rural transit system in the West Kootenay.
Streamlining the bus system, schedules and fares throughout the West Kootenay will not only help to decrease costs, but will open a whole new world to people in the area.
OK, so what reason to you have to leave this little piece of heaven anyway, right?
Why not take your own art tour through the area, starting in Nelson, hitting the Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar and ending with the VISAC and Rouge galleries in Trail and Rossland?
The possibilities are abundant.
Now, however, comes that hardest part, waiting.
Like so many frustrated passengers with their eyes fixed in the corner waiting for the first signs of the bus, we have to sit by and wait to see if the promises were purely posturing or if BC Transit will pull through and link up the West Kootenay.
