The Regional District of Central Kootenay and the Province of British Columbia are pleased to announce that final commissioning of the Ymir Water Treatment Plant is complete.

The Ymir Water Commission, chaired by Mr. Hans Cunningham, Director, Electoral Area G, invites the general public to celebrate the Official Dedication of the Ymir Water Treatment Plant on Oct. 7 at 9:30 a.m.

The Ymir Water Treatment Plant was designed, manufactured and assembled for the community of Ymir (population 200), located within the Central Kootenay Regional District.

This “green” facility is one of the first small plants to employ an analysis and design based on a triple bottom line framework, meeting the financial, environmental and social goals of the community.

The focus was to build sustainable infrastructure, reduce the carbon footprint, conserve energy and ensure long-term financial viability.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this cooperative effort”, stated RDCK Director Hans Cunningham (Electoral Area G) “This project demonstrates that financial, environmental and social objectives can be achieved by working together.”
