Ice trail Swift Current 3-1 after one period at the RecPlex

Swift Current comes into town with a 12-11-0-0 record and are in last place in the Eastern Division. The Broncos are currently in eighth place and occupy the last play-off spot in the Eastern Conference one point ahead of Kootenay.
Sylvester gets an opportunity early, off a Steele Boomer pass. Morgan Clark makes the save for Swift Current.
Broncos score early with a backhand shot by Justin Dowling into the right hand corner past Mathews. For Dalin, the goal was his 14th of the season.
Shortly after, Wagner tries the wrap-up but Mathews makes the save.
Mathews again makes a nice save this time on Andrew Sullivan
Sylvester gets a quick wrist shot, but Clark gets his glove on the puck for the save.
Czerwonka gets a breakaway, but is hacked from behind by Dowling, who gets the slashing penalty for the Broncs.
Sylvester makes some nifty moves but has his shot blocked by the Swift Current defender.
Brock Montgomery picks up Kootenay's first penalty of the game for a hit from behind.
Swifty gets a few chances on the power play but Mathews is solid. Kevin King makes a nice block on the shot from the Ice point.
Neither team is able to convert on their respective power plays.
Adam Lowry gets a solid wrist shot on the Ice net, but Mathews makes the save.
Taylor Vause scores for the Broncos on a breakaway as he fakes low on Mathews, and then sends the puck up high to give Swift Current a 2-0 lead.
Ice coach Mark Holick pulls Mathews and put former starter Nathan Lieuwen in the net. Mathews returns shortly aftger.
Sylvester gets a shot on net and Boomer almost puts in the rebound as the Ice press.
Stephen Novotny goes to the penalty for delay of game after sending the puck into the stands to alleviate the Ice pressure.
Ice can't seem to get anything going as King sends the puck to the blue line, but with no defender there- the puck sails into the Ice zone.
King gets a sneaky wrist shot on the Bronco nets, but again Clark makes the stop.
Rintoul takes a snap shot on the power play but misses the net on the left side.
The Broncs get another delay of game penalty as Graeme Craig gets the penalty with five and a half minutes left in the first period.
Sylvester gets another quick shot on goal, but the Ice have yet to get it past the Speedy Creek goalie.
Reinhart gets a solid shot on goal. The puck appears to have trickled through the legs of Clark for the Ice's first goal but the ref blew the whistle first - no goal.
Kootenay's Matt Fraser finds James Martin in front of the net who misses; but Martin returns the favour and feeds Fraser for the Ice's first goal at 15:51 of the first to cut the Bronco lead to 2-1. Drew Czerwonka also picks up an assist on the power play goal.
Michael Stickland gets a shot on net, Lieuwen makes the save but .Stepan Novotny scores on the rebound as the Ice fail to corral the bouncing puck. The goal, at the 17:31 mark, puts Swift Current up 3-1.
Broncos get the power play with two minutes left as Todd Mathews gets an interference call.
Antilla and Fraser get a two on one chance but the Bronco defender breaks it up.
Cody Eakin of Swifty misses a wide open net after a nice feed from Brad Hoban.
Swift Current leads 3-1.
