The Wheat Kings come into Cranbrook for the sixth game of a seven game road trip.
It was another tough, defensive battle for the Ice for most of the game.
Kootenay scored the first goal at the 16:10 mark of the first period with Steele Boomer scoring assisted by Brayden McNabb and Dustin Sylvester.
Brandon got the tying goal with just under five minutes gone in the second period when Aaron Lewadniuk scored while on his knees on a Wheat King power play.
Wheaties get a few chances on a power play advantage with six minutes left in the third period, but Ice stop them.
Brandon's Alexander Urborn has best chance with a snap shot in close, but misses.
Ice get power play chance with 3:55 left in the game as Brayden Schenn picks up an interference penalty.
Lewadniuk goes one on one on the shorthand but Mathews makes the stop. Brandon has three on one chance later in the same Ice power play but fail to hit the net.
Ice captain Sylvester makes a nifty move with 2:13 left in the third period and zips the puck past Wheat King netminder Jacob DeSerras to put Kootenay up 2-1. The power play goal is Sylvester's fifth of the season and was assisted by Hayden Rintoul and Steele Boomer.
With less than a minute, Kootenay puts the pressure on with Sylvester missing the top corner of the Brandon net by inches.
Brandon pulls goalie with thirty seconds left. Ice keep them out out of the zone.
Final score: Kootenay 2 Brandon 1.
Ice goal Todd Matthews picks up second star, while Boomer picks up the first star of the game.
