Let's cash this lotto ticket

I've spent a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the eastern boundary extension, and incidentally, am writing this letter in the middle of the night. I feel this issue is one of the most important I've seen in my past 9 years here.
The referendum isn't as difficult and convoluted as some would have you think. It's about whether the City has control of the land and how it's developed. To me, it?s simple. It's like buying a lottery ticket.
You buy a lottery ticket, and if you win, you have plenty of time to plan HOW you're going to use the money. If you don't have a clue, that?s okay. It'll just sit in the bank until you decide how you want to spend it. Likely, you?ll spend some, invest some in RRSPs, perhaps some in RESPs for your kids, and maybe do a home reno. That money will grow in value, even if you do nothing with it. That money will give you, your family, and your children?s children options later on.
No matter how much you plan how you're going to spend your winnings, if you don't hold the winning ticket, it's moot. But if you have the land, you still have time to plan...and ask your family what they'd like to see. Cranbrook is my family. We have the winning lottery ticket. Lets say 'yes' and plan together, as a community, how our community will stay vibrant and prosper.
