No 'whoa' on ballot

Sharon Cross recently stated that her hope is that people will have sufficient information to see the wisdom in slowing down the proposal to create a separate second city attached by a thin strip of land with one road.
Why don't people understand that we can't slow down this process? There is no "WHOA" on the referendum ballot. There is yes or no, and both have irreversible consequences. The East Hill land in question is private land. Regardless of the Nov. 14 result, this land is going to be developed no matter what. So the only question at hand is whether we want the City of Cranbrook to control the development or the Regional District.
CLC can try and distract us with their irresponsible so-called-facts on taxes and roadways and our apparently degrading sewer system. But those issues are not being voted on. All that you are being asked to vote yes or no on is whether you, as a Cranbrook resident, want a say in the development that will be going ahead either way.
I am voting yes because I want a say in how that land is developed and I also want the eventual East Hill residents contributing to our city's tax base.
