If those who are sin free get to throw the first stone, then there is no stone throwing in Cranbrook Community Theatre's first production of the season at the Stage Door. Honestly Now!, written by Jack Sharkey, is a story full of twists, turns and laughs.
Two con artists are touring the French Riviera, targeting wealthy hotel patrons at every stop. Unwittingly, two hotel staff members become embroiled in the adventure and perhaps their motives aren't totally innocent either.
Throw in a U.S. Senator and his wife, two alleged hicks from Nebraska, the Riviera Police Department and even more crooks and you have the ingredients for a delightful evening of entertainment.
Terry Miller is directing this comedic affair and says that it was the quality of the story that drew him to this script.
"There are lots of great comedies, but many of them have relatively silly story lines, while this story is believable on its' own," said Miller. "With terrific characters, good jokes, bad jokes and plenty of physical humour, this is very much a fun comedy".
Miller, who has previously directed The Constant Wife, Cemetery Club, Criminal Hearts and Toyer, has assembled a group of talented and skilled actors to embody the characters of this show.
"There are some new faces in key roles and some others who are becoming somewhat familiar to local audiences, but all in different parts than you might expect," said Miller.
This new production runs for 10 nights from October 23 to November 7. Tickets will be on sale at Lotus Books.
