Kootenay Trout Hatchery opens doors as a part of Family Fun Fish Day
Children get a chance to get a close up look at the Kootenay Trout Hatchery during Family Fun Fish Day.
The Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. will once again host its famous Family Fun Fish Day at the Kootenay Trout Hatchery.
On Saturday, August 1, hatchery staff will be sprucing up the grounds, polishing up the sturgeon, putting the trout on their best behaviour and welcoming visitors for a fun day of educational games, activities and take-home crafts – a fun way to learn all about our fishy friends. Bring the whole family – kids of all ages are sure to enjoy themselves and see some memorable sights.
This is a first-come-first-served event and visitors are advised to arrive at the hatchery at 10 a.m. sharp. Organizers suggest that visitors come prepared for the elements, bring a lunch, dress for the weather and remember their sunscreen. Admission by donation. The hatchery is located at 4522 Fenwick Road, Ft. Steele B.C., 32 kilometers southeast of Cranbrook on Highway 3 and six kilometers north on the Wardner/Ft. Steele Road.
Individuals and groups interested in the L2F program can contact the Kootenay Trout Hatchery at 250-429-3214, or visit the website at www.gofishbc.com.
