Windermere Valley Ladies' Club
Published: October 07, 2008 1:00 PMThe ladies at Windermere Valley Golf Course have been enjoying their summer by golfing each Wednesday 9 a.m.
The turnout has been fabulous and it is certainly fun to see all the ladies enjoying their mornings of golf.
Dorothy Blunden has flown over the pond to visit relatives in Scotland and the U.K. so I will try to match her wit with words, and announce all the games played along with their winners over the past four weeks.
Wednesday, July 6: The game was Cry Baby and there were lots of tears to be had by 23 members in attendance.
Tears of laughter that is! Sharyn Schmidt, our captain, made it a fun day by having all the members turning their golfing tears to joyous laughter with the first gift exchange day - everyone was to bring their one piece of something they were going to throw in the garbage, but as of yet - were still unable to part with.
The uglier the better! Each participant picked a gift from the box and shared their precious acquisition for all to see.
Well done Sharyn, this event was a huge success. Other gals successful that day with their golf game of Cry Baby, included Ruth Gordon - first. Tied for second place was Sherry Larratt, Joyce Robinson, and Nora Efford. Deuce pot - shared by Nora Efford and Ruth Gordon. Putting pot - won by Joyce Pollock.
Fifty/fifty went to Cathy Howard as well as the door prize. Turned out that everyone was a winner this day!
July 23: Low net/pin round: 26 players turned out for our third low net and pin round for the year and the happy winners were: first - Cathy Howard; second - Nora Efford and Donna Edgar, Jackie Marshall and Pauline Haltman bringing in third place tie. Deb Plato won the door prize.
August 6: Tombstone – 26 players.
Surviving this game when all was said and done was Joyce Pollock, Helga Boker, Anne Way, Pat Andruschuk, Cathy Howard and Nora Efford. The deuce pot shared three ways with Anne Way on #2; Donna Edgar #2 and Cathy Howard #5. Well-done girls.
Sharyn Schmidt won putting pot.
The door prize went to Mary-Jean Anakin and 50/50 to Pat Andruschuk.
August 13: Tee to Green - 26 players.
Winners for the day were Helga Boker, Sherry Avery, Cathy Howard, Lorna Scott and Mary- Jean Anakin. Ruth Gordon and Aline Sholinder won the putting pot and Corinne Ruault won the deuce pot. Luck was still with Corinne because she also won the 50/50 draw.
Eight members of the Windermere Valley Ladies Golf travelled to Fernie and Sparwood for the East Kootenay Challenge Tournament. Good luck girls - win or lose. Have a fun two days.
