Columbia Lake in its natural state

I am writing this in response to a statement made by Mike Dubois in regard to the fact that, of the 40 lakes in the Rocky Mountain Forest District, only Lake Windermere can be used for water sports that involve towing.

This statement is not true.

Just south of Fairmont there is a rest centre where travellers can get a view of the most beautiful lake in the Columbia Valley to be seen from the highway.

This is Columbia Lake in its natural state from south of Fairmont on the east side to Eagle’s Nest in Canal Flats and I hope it will remain that way.

By the way, Canal Flats has the only public launch site on the lake at our beach and we have water-skied on the lake since power boats have been popular.

I am not advocating that we need more boaters as our beach is small and parking is not large enough for more boaters.

I am a long time resident of Canal Flats and proud of it.
