New set of wheels for April

Success in sales has led a Timber Ridge resident to a new set of wheels.

April Williams has been a Mary Kay representative for the better part of six years and recently the company decided to repay her for her hard work with a new car.

“It took a lot of personal growth and confidence building to believe that I could actually do that. To go out and talk to strangers, to find a way and make a way. It’s about building a team of women who are excited about their business.”

The black Ford Focus comes complete with Mary Kay lettering on the door and April feels that it adds something to her approach to the business.

She gives a lot of credit to her team members as well.

“You don’t go up unless you help other people go up with you,” she said.

Her husband Chris is also supportive of April’s success. He lends a hand to load inventory from time to time and flew to Toronto this year to surprise her when she was there to receive the keys to her car.

April is now working on her qualifications to become a sales director with the company with a minimum of 26 people working under her. Right now she has more than 20. And it has been hard work.

“I felt like quitting a few times, for sure,” said April, “the reason I’ve kept working with it is because I’ve plugged into the support that the company offers.”

“This past year, digging my heels down and being determined, it’s been a full-time career,” she said.

Past this point, she aims at growing even larger and maybe one day hitting the big mark of getting her own pink Cadillac, the company’s marker for its elite staff.

Though it takes time, April has big goals for her future. “Just this morning I was drinking coffee out of my pink Cadillac mug,” she said with a hopeful smile as she got herself ready for a show in Fairmont.
