Feeling lucky?

Darren Danyluk, principal of David Thompson Secondary School in Invermere, tries his luck during this year's hunger banquet. The event, held to commemorate World Food Day, split diners up into three categories. Fifteen per cent of banquet guests are in the high income group and are served a scrumptious gourmet meal while 25 per cent are in the middle income group and eat a simple meal of rice and beans. The remaining 60 per cent of guests are in the low income group and must wait in line for small portions of rice and water. The goal was to give a visual representation of the imbalance of food resources between developed and developing countries in the world. In total, 51 tickets were sold and $75 raised for the Food Bank in Invermere. Dave Lazzarino/Echo Photo
