Coldwell Banker expands
Ross Newhouse and Kristy Altman. Dave Lazzarino/Echo Photo At a time when many in the real estate market are still worried about the numbers, a team has come together in Invermere to focus on the personal side of the business.
“We felt that there was a good opportunity for us in terms of lifestyle and business opportunities,” said Gordon Bagan who, after 17 years in real estate and 13 with Coldwell Banker, has added to his team.
He added, “We’ve got almost a perfect match.”
The match he is referring to comes in the person of Ross Newhouse, himself a 17-year veteran in the industry.
“I wanted to join Gordon because I’ve known him for such a long time in the real estate business,” explained Ross of the move. “We have the same philosophy about dealing with our clients in that the clients are number one.”
Ross was previously one of the owners of Royal LePage Rockies West. He sold his share in the company and, though still on very good terms with the new owners there, wanted to be able to free up some of his time to pursue outside interests while serving his customers as best he can.
“The main reason I am making this move is to better serve my clients by working for a small office boutique as opposed to a shopping mall which will allow me to deliver more personalized service,” said Ross who also looks forward to finding the time to better his golf game.
Gordon also has other pastimes that he hopes to find more time for now.
“I spend a lot of my spare time volunteering for ski races,” he said and mentioned that he will be volunteering at the Olympic events this winter along with the Windermere Valley Ski Club.
What makes it even easier for the pair is the support they receive from their staff. Though many in the business may be referred to as “assistants,” Gordon stressed that their team is a little different.
“We don’t have assistants, we have associates,” he said, referring to his associate Virginia Jopp as well as Kristy Altman who is coming on board with Ross in a similar role.
“We both have associates that are familiar with the valley and experienced realtors to back us up,” said Gordon.
Kristy agrees. “One of us is always here. So there’s someone always covering the clients.”
Ross and Kristy have already moved in to the Coldwell Banker office located in Athalmer, upstairs of Columbia Cycle and they are all very positive about the future of the company.
Gordon explained that the real estate business and their new staff team have a lot in common.
“It’s all about relationships and trust and I think we have that for each other,” he said.
