It’s with some amusement that I see some well-meaning local politicians have wiped Castlegar Airport off the map and replaced it with the “West Kootenay Regional Airport”.
How clever!
And where does this brand new entity exist? Why, Ootischenia of course!
Would it not be appropriate that Ootischenia be acknowledged as the geographical location of the W.K.R.A.?
Perhaps on the signage outside of the air terminal building? Maybe in brackets.
The branding logo too is a stroke of genius!
I see it depicts in an abstract manner, a compendium of one or more of the more creative approach procedures used by pilots arriving at the airport over the years!
Surely, the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce must be delighted in not having to promote that nasty old Castlegar Airport anymore!
As well, I’m sure that the surrounding regional districts, cities and towns etc. will be thrilled that The City of Castlegar has provided a regional airport for them, free of charge.
How generous!
It should be noted and appreciated, that it is no small thing for a city, particularly a small city like Castlegar to have it’s own airport named after it and duly gazetted in national and international publications and with it’s own international identifier.
Castlegar Airport, has this. Think about it!
