The Kootenay Family Place Neighbourhood House FREE programs and community connection for families. Thursdays ‘Neighbourhood House Drop In’ program (9:30-12) for families with children birth through six. Wednesdays ‘Baby Steps Drop In’ (10-12), enjoy Mother Goose program for infants 6-24 months and caregiver. NEW FRIDAY PROGRAM ‘ESL Drop In’ (9:30-11:30), English as a Second Language families with children birth through 6, starts Sept 19! NEW MONDAY PROGRAM ‘Make the Connection’ (children 1-2 and caregiver) – pre-register by Sept. 26! The Family Place is offering parental yoga classes on Wednesday’s from 9:45-10:45 a.m. and Thursday’s from 1-2:15 p.m. pre-register is $8 or drop-in is $10.
The Advocacy Centre staff comes to the Castlegar Community Services building (1007 2nd Street) on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed over the noon hour.) Drop-ins are welcome but people with appointments will be given first priority. 250-608-0589.
Blueberry Family Literacy/Parenting Centre reopens Sept. 8th. Every M/W/F 9 -11:30. Free drop-in for ages 0 -6 and caregivers. Free play, story, snack, gym time, music, love 2 learn, parent workshops. 365-7201 for info.
St. David’s Thrift Store:(Under Anderson Insurance on Columbia Avenue).Winter hours; Monday and Friday’s 10-4. Thanks for your patience as we completed our summer/winter changeover. Halloween items are on display. We are once again accepting donations. A friendly reminder that we have no room to accept furniture items, and that you can recycle your electronic items (computers etc.) at the Trail Bottle Depot.

Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop: Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday & Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone250-365-7317. Location: 210 – 11th Avenue, Castlegar. We are back to our regular hours Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Keep checking for our many treasures! Check out our Fall clothing for all family members. We thank the community for their donations of clean resalable items especially during our hours of operation. Our next meeting will be held Monday, September 15th at 7 p.m. in the Health Centre cafeteria.
Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop: Open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Located in the reception area of the Health Centre (Hospital) Castlegar. The Gift Shop carries beautiful new children’s clothing by Brownstone supplied exclusively for the Auxiliary’s Gift Shops. Sizes 6 months to 14 years. We have on hand preemie sleepers. We also carry angel pins, beautiful hand knitted baby sets and singing stuffed animals. These items are new. Come check out our many other hand crafted items, call 250-365-3672.
Castlegar and District Hospital Foundation Society, The Foundation office is located in the Auxiliary’s Gift Shop at the Castlegar & District Community Health Centre, 709 – 10th Street, Castlegar, B. Grandview Heights Seniors Housing Co-opertive General Meetings held the third Sunday of the month at the Carpenters Hall Columbia Ave. Doors open 6 p.m. meeting starts 7 p.m.

USCC Cultural Interpretive Society meets on Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arts and Crafts Training Centre beside the USCC Brilliant Cultural Centre. Volunteers are welcome to make quilts and other products for charitable donations. Creative handicrafts are also produced for sales.
