Thursday, Oct. 9: The Castlegar and District Youth Centre and Castle Theatre hold open mike night at the theatre from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Ongoing: The Castlegar Skating Club will continue to take registrations for Pre School CanSkate, CanSkate and StarSkate Programs. Boys and Girls of all ages and all skating abilities are welcome. All programs are coached by NCCP Certified Coaches and assisted by trained Program Assistants. For more information or to register, please phone Corinne Postnikoff at 365 - 7074.

Saturday, Oct. 11 - 12: The Castlegar Rebels will play the Sicamous Eagles at the Castleagar and District Community Complex. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Rebels will play the Chase Chiefs starting at 2 p.m. at the Castlegar and District Community Complex.

Monday, Oct. 13: Come out to the Castlegar Aquatic Centre and play on the BIG DOG! Bring your friends and family and have a wild and wet day! 1:30-4:30 p.m. regular admission.

Wednesday, Oct. 15: Women Building Healthy Relationships group will be held at the Castlegar and District Community Services Society. Friday, Oct. 17 - 19: Castlegar Quilters Guild Quilt Show ‘Castlegar - River Runs Through it’ will take place at the Castlegar and District Recreation Complex. On Friday the doors will be open from noon - 6 p.m. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information please call Jean at 250-304-2337.

Saturday, Oct. 18: CWL Tea and Bazaar will be taking place from 1-3 p.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Centre admission $3.

Saturday, Oct. 18: Blueberry Creek Community School Kids Winter Clothing sale Quality new and gently used kids stuff for children aged 0-12. Table rental $10 For more information please call 250-365-7201.

Thursday, Oct. 23: The Castlegar Seniors Branch 46 are holding their Tea Dance on Thursday, October 23 from 2-4 p.m. Music by Silver and Gold (Halloween theme)

Saturday, Oct. 25 - 26: Cross Border Weavers is holding a two day workshop titled, ‘Plain Weave and So Much More’ with instructor; Arlene Klotz. There are a few spots open for the workshop which will be held in Colville, Wa. Cost is $50 which will include a Warp and Weft. Saturday, Oct. 25: Kootenay Family Place Neighbourhood house will host a clothes swap from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of clean clothes in good conditions gratefully accepted until October 24. For more information please call 250-365-3662.

Monday, Oct. 27: Kootenay Gallery Film Series will be presenting, ‘The Stone Angel’ a movie based on Margaret Laurence’s novel. It will play at Kootenay Centre Cinema on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

November 1 to December 6: The Karla Pearce Studio will be hosting its first Student Art Show titled, ‘Getting There’. All past and present students of Karla Pearce are invited to participate. The show will be open to the public and there is no fee. ‘Getting There’ will be celebrated with an opening reception where all students and the public are invited to attend a reception. An art draw will also be held where a lucky winner will receive an original Karla Pearce painting. For more information on participating in this even call Karla Pearce at 250-365-2032.
