In an effort to prevent winter power disruptions, BC Hydro is planning a four-hour power outage on Nakusp on Sunday, Nov. 8.

It will happen between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., BC Hydro spokesperson Jennifer Walker-Larsen states the outage will affect all distribution feeders out of Nakusp, New Denver substations which will affect the communities of Nakusp, New Denver, Rosebery, Summit Lake and the north side of Burton.

“Although the weather is starting to get cool it is important to do the work now to maintain reliability,” says Walker-Larsen.” A number of poles on the old segment of line through the Spicer property are in poor condition. If the work was not done now and one of these poles was to fall over during a winter storm, a longer outage would be required to do the connection.”
