Remembrance Day in Nakusp was held with tradition on Nov. 11.
The annual parade went from the Nakusp Legion Hall to the Cenotaph. A large crowd of area residents awaited the coming of the parade to the park. The day turned out clear with showers fading off in the morning. The sky broke open with blue before ceremonies began, keeping people dry and warm.
Harvey Truax of the Nakusp Legion carried out the ceremonies, leading the parade and calling for O Canada to be sung, followed by the trumpet playing Last Post with a moment of silence. People lined the Cenotaph barrier, the crowd at some points many people thick. Others found their way just inside the barrier, crowded together.
Truax kept his speech short and a short prayer was read. Wreaths were laid at the memorial by many local organizations and residents who wished to pay their respects.
The ceremony ended with a march back to the Legion hall where residents of the community gathered to mingle. Above,
