Alzheimer’s Support

The Alzheimer’s Support Group are meeting the first Wednesday of every month at Community Services. For more information call Evelyn at 250-265-4641.

Mixed Hockey

Nakusp mixed recreational non-contact hockey invites guys and girls out for fun games Friday nights between 7:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. Full equipment is required. Call Rob at 265-0208 or Dave at 265-3316 for more information.

Loonie Hockey

Drop-in Loonie Hockey at the Nakusp Sports Complex will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Players must being a helmet. For more information call Arena staff at 265-4500.

Public Skating

The Nakusp Sports Complex hosts public skating on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Lunch

A soup and bun lunch will be held at Robertson Memorial United Church, 117-3rd Ave. N.W. every second Saturday of every month. Everyone is welcome by way of donation.

Veterinarian Open House

The Nakusp Veterinary Clinic hosts an Animal Health Week Open House on October 8. Open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., all are welcome to come see displays on Animal Health Care. For information call 265-4442.

Internet Site

There are new hours as of October 8 for the Burton High-speed Internet Access Site. It is now open 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. For information call Rosalie Cranna at 265-0161.

Mammography screening

B.C. Cancer Agency’s Screening Mammography Program will be mobile and in Nakusp from October 8 – 10. Appointments are limited. Call 1-800-663-9203 for more information or visit www.smpbc.ca for additional information and a short presentation on mammography.

Hospital Bus

Community members are invited to the Arrow Lakes Hospital Conference Room on October 8 at 7 p.m. to give ideas and opinions on the new community hospital bus the hospital has recently purchased.

Housing Symposium

The 2008 Nakusp and Area Affordable Housing Symposium will be taking place on Oct. 15 at the Nakusp Civic Arena Banquet Room. Come and watch a couple presentations and take part in a lively discussion about the housing issues in our area. Space is limited, call Christina Nolan at 250-265-3674 for more information.

Tai Chi

Sign up for beginners is on October 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the N.E.S. gym. Beginners classes are Thursdays 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and continuing classes are Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the gym. For more information call Mary at 265-9986.

Indoor Market

The Collective Soul Community Centre will be hosting an indoor market every Saturday morning beginning October 18. It will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and any inquires should be directed towards Jodee at 265-3833.

Public Meeting

Residents of Nakusp are encouraged to attend a public meeting on Oct. 30 to discuss the potential sale of the Nakusp Hot Springs. A referendum will be held on Nov. 15 to determine whether the Village will be selling the Hot Springs. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the Nakusp Auditorium. For information call the Village office at 265-3689.
