Nakusp Figure Skating Club president Valerie Hill is happy with the results of the season, which was their first year back after skating was cancelled in 06/07 due to the lack of a coach. “It’s been a really good year. It’s gone really smoothly,” she said. “This year has been a year to get back on our feet and rebuild our club. It is great to see our 28 skaters working hard and improving their skills.”
Hill is thrilled to report that Coach Sabrina Hinson has committed to another year with the club, allowing them to build on the gains they made this year.
Hill says the program is a bargain, costing $190 for one and a half hours per week over a 22 week season.
The club will start enrolment again for the next season in the second week of September. They are are interested in getting even more ice time for the program in the new season, but will have to work with other ice users before that can be confirmed.
Organizers wished to thank Brenda Buerge for printing the brochure, Allison Alder for organizing it, Frances Swan for getting advertising together, Box Lake Lumber for donating the GPS door prize, Buddy Maxfield for her help with the costumes and all the parents for their help with the program this year.
