About Us
The Arrow Lakes News is based in the forestry community of Nakusp, but its coverage extends to the surrounding hamlets and villages of Burton, Arrow Park, Fauquier, Edgewood, New Denver, Silverton and Trout Lake. It is published every Wednesday.
The Arrow Lakes News was founded in June, 1922 by Frank S. Rouleau, continuing a tradition of lively, upstart publications in the area, like the Slocan Record and the Kaslo Claim. Most were short-lived, but the News endured. A year later, A.B.S. Stanley took over the paper and it remained in the family for the next 72 years.
The Arrow Lakes are a recreational playground in British Columbia's West Kootenay mountains. The area is known for its hot springs, hiking trails and fishing.
