Police say that a plea made by parents of a missing Squamish teen has generated new leads in a coordinated search.
RCMP Cpl. Dave Ritchie said that police combed terrain on Bowen Island with search dogs last weekend after learning new information. He could not say which community the tips came from or where exactly the search units combed the island.
Henrickson went missing in the early hours of June 20 after attending some house parties on Bowen Island.
Police said last month that as BC Ferries footage did not show her leaving the island, they believed she had either left by other means or remained in the community during the extensive search that involved air and marine units and North Shore Rescue technicians who combed wilderness and rocky shore lines.
At an Aug. 1 press conference held Bowen Island Henrickson's parents told media they believed Jodi was alive and being held against her will.
Ritchie said police have told the family to prepare for other possibilities as well.
"It could be foul play, it could be homicide, it could be a teenager running amok and having run," he said on Thursday. He said police are also considering the family's suggestion that Jodi is being held against her will. "That's a possibility," he said. "We're still treating it as a missing person's case."
Henrickson was last seen with her ex-boyfriend on June 20. She was reported missing June 24.
Ritchie said that anyone with tips or information should call the RCMP information line at 604-987-0516.
