Three little homes
Three small houses may soon occupy a former fire hall site in West Vancouver.
The district is looking to built three "smaller than normal single family homes" on lots 6520 and 6540 on Marine Drive, said Geri Boyle, West Vancouver's manager of community planning.
The houses are slated to be no taller than two storeys and the district will ask that developers follow green building guidelines.
All three residents who came to speak to the proposal at a public hearing last Monday were in favour of the plan, with one speaker suggesting increasing the project's density.
The price of art
West Vancouver will be investigating the price tag attached to an arts centre in Ambleside.
In late June, council voted to support an arts community report which explored the possibility of developing a facility focusing on arts, architecture and design near the village's waterfront.
But West Vancouver Coun. Michael Smith wants to know is expenses associated with such a project. He asked staff report back to council on capital and management cost and a funding approach for the facility.
