Burnaby Lake premier squad wins Summer Sevens championship

Burnaby Lake came up with boxcars at the Highland Summer Sevens rugby tournament at Simon Fraser University on Saturday.

The club's Premier division squad beat the Young Bucks in the championship final, while Meraloma finished third.

In the Women's division, the host team finished third behind the Seattle Mudhens, who beat Meraloma in the championship final.

Meraloma also came up short in the final of the Social division, losing to Bayside, while the Dragons finished third.

More than 20 teams in three divisions participated in the 27th incarnation of the annual tournament, which features seven-aside teams playing truncated matches consisting of two, 10-minute halves.
