New West takes two titles in provincial box lacrosse

New Westminster won two of the categories while Burnaby took another at the provincial female box lacrosse championships held last weekend in both communities.
Burnaby downed Nanaimo 7-3 in the junior final held at Queen's Park Arena on Sunday. New West No. 3 took the bantam title by edging New West No. 1, who had won all four of its round-robin games, 3-2. New West No. 2 took third place by beating Port Coquitlam 8-5. New Westminster claimed the pee wee crown by downing Port Moody 8-5 with Burnaby taking third place by downing New West No. 3 7-3.
In the midget final, Coquitlam nipped New West No. 2 3-2 with New West No. 1 taking third place after defeating Coquitlam No. 1 7-3.
At the boys bantam provincials held in Richmond, Burnaby took the A1 division by downing Ridge Meadows in the final.
New Westminster will have a team in both the A1 and A2 categories at the boys midget championships in Langley this week.
