The New Westminster Jr. Salmonbellies closed out the B.C. Jr. A Lacrosse League with a pair of easy victories over the lowly Langley Thunder this week.
On Tuesday, the ’Bellies beat up on the Thunder 15-6 at Queen’s Park Arena. Their victory in Langley on Thursday, 18-6, was even more definitive.
With the wins New Westminster (13-7-1) finished the regular season in third place and will likely play the sixth-place Nanaimo Timbermen (7-12-0) in the first round, although it’s possible it could be either Delta (8-10-1) or Port Coquitlam (5-13-1).
Curtis Dickson racked up 13 points in the two games getting eight (five goals, three assists) Thursday and five (2-3) Tuesday. Kevin Crowley had seven goals and two assists in the two games while Tyler Digby have five goals and four assists.
In addition to his exploits for the Salmonbellies, Dickson also showed off his skills in the BCJALL Prospects Game played Wednesday at Queen’s Park scoring four goals and assisting on another as his Black Squad lost 13-12 to the Red Squad.
New West goalie Neil Tyacke made 20 saves for the Reds and also picked up an assist.
The fourth-place Burnaby Jr. Lakers (10-10-0) will finish the season Sunday in Nanaimo. Their first-round opponent is likely to be Delta.
