We don’t need another tax

The impacts of the harmonized sales tax are enormous—higher costs for dining out, haircuts, utilities, movies, airline tickets, gyms, school supplies, books, clothing/shoes for kids, car repairs, professional fees, renovations, installers, daycare, couriers, movers, etc.
Real estate transaction costs will rise—HST will apply to realtor/home inspector/lawyer fees and appraisals.
Strata owners will see common costs rise for hydro, garbage removal, gutter cleaning, landscape and other maintenance/management services.
Municipal taxes will increase as previously PST-exempt vendors will charge HST. What about dental and chiropractic services?
A recall campaign would send the Liberals a clear message—they deceived us in the recent election.
The minority federal government needs a clear message too. We don’t approve of Ottawa’s role in this matter and for locking B.C. in for two years.
Parliament resumes in September. Messrs. Ignatieff and Layton, time for a non-confidence vote, with 22 B.C. Tory seats up for grabs.
It will serve the Tories right for their role in this.
