Federal New Democrat leader Jack Layton announced newly-elected New Westminster-Coquitlam MP Fin Donnelly as the Fisheries and Oceans critic last weekend in Vancouver.
Donnelly plans to make the phasing out of open net fish farms his first priority.
The federal government must act now to protect wild salmon by phasing out open-net fish farms, said Donnelly.
“We know that fish farms have an impact,” said Donnelly. “It is time for Ottawa finally step up.”
