ACORN holding rally Saturday

BC ACORN is launching its living wage campaign this Saturday in New Westminster.
The campaign will start with a rally this Saturday in front of city hall at noon.
ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is working with a broad coalition as part of the campaign. Community, political and labour groups will also be on hand for the rally.
“BC is officially is the hardest place for working people to get by in all of Canada," said David Tate, chair of the New Westminster-based ACORN branch.
"With Metro Vancouver having the highest cost of living and the lowest minimum wage, we need to find new ways to raise the bar and change the conversation about increased wages. And a living wage paid to all people working for the City of New Westminster would do that."
The community activist group wants the city to adopt the principle of a living wage, making it the first municipality in Canada to do so.
