Peter Julian, New Democrat MP for Burnaby-New Westminster, has brought forward a Made in Canada Procurement Act in Parliament. The private members bill would ensure Canadian companies and industries are given top priority on all government procurements and services. Similar industrialized nations, including the United States, already have this kind of procurement system as a way of preserving jobs, said Julian.
