Val MacDonald, founder and executive director of the Seniors Services Society, is the winner of the 2009 United Way excellence in action for seniors award.

MacDonald was recognized for her dedication to helping seniors in Metro Vancouver. The award is presented to an individual or group for the impact they make in the area of seniors throughout Metro Vancouver. The award will be presented Sept. 9.
