ELECTION 2008: NDP sweeps Royal City

NDP incumbent Dawn Black has been re-elected to a second consecutive term in the riding of New Westminster-Coquitlam, edging Conservative candidate Yonah Martin in a race that was at times within just a few per cent.

With 125 of 214 polls reporting, Black was named elected. Liberal candidate was a distant third at the time, with only about 11 per cent of the vote.

Black was elected in 2006, but also served as a New Democrat MP for the riding of New Westminster-Burnaby from 1988 to 1993.
