Steven Galloway, the author of the best-selling novel The Cellist of Sarajevo, will read from his work when he makes an appearance at the New Westminster Public Library Nov. 17.
Galloway’s reading, followed by questions from participants, starts at 7 p.m.
Individuals wanting to attend should pre-register by calling the library at 604-527-4659.
• The New Westminster author, who grew up in Kamloops, was recently nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. Novelists are nominated for the award by libraries from around the world.
Of the 156 writers to make the Dublin Literary Award long list, Galloway is tied for second for the most nominations.
One of the eight libraries that nominated The Cellist of Sarajevo commented: “With his beautifully written, intelligent prose, Galloway manages both to shatter the world as we know it by bringing the realities of war, far-off battlefields to cities where we live and put it back together again by echoing the nameless cellist’s message of hope.”
