The New Westminster branch of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) is hosting a commuter station during Bike to Work Week (Nov. 2-8). On Friday, cyclists can use the station 6:30 to 9 a.m., located next to the 22nd Street SkyTrain Station.

Commuting cyclists will be able to stop by and enjoy coffee, juices and pastries. Bike to Work Week is a regional awareness event, reminding the public that cycling is a year-round activity. A similar event was held in the spring. VACC says cycling is feasible year-round in the Lower Mainland as long as riders are properly prepared and use familiar, traffic-calmed routes. Cyclists must dress warmly, with bright, reflective clothes and rain protection. Bikes must be equipped with appropriate lights and reflectors.

Riders can learn more by visiting www.vacc.bc.ca.
