City unveils multicultural awards program
Updated: September 23, 2009 2:36 PM
The City of New Westminster has unveiled a multiculturalism and race relations awards program to honour those helping make the city a more welcoming and inclusive place.
The awards are a result of the city experiencing increasing immigration—79.1% of the 2001-2006 total population growth were immigrants. The city is asking the public to nominate individuals or organizations that should be recognized for contributing to multiculturalism or race relations in New Westminster. Nomination forms can be found on the city’s website (www.newwestcity.ca) and must be returned by Friday, Oct. 23.
