New West cadet outstanding

New Westminster army cadet Thomas Deaton was named the outstanding cadet following six weeks of training at the Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre.
Deaton, a member of 2316 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in New West, was recognized as the outstanding cadet in Four Platoon of the cadet leader physical education and recreation training (PERT) course.
The course is designed to develop fitness skills and also teaches cadets to lead their own corps in fitness and sports programs.
Deaton was presented his award by Brigadier General Ken Woiden, Deputy Commander of Land Forces Western Area.
